These are some of the props I have made during my time as an Environment Artist on the Unreal 3 Mod Tactical Assault.
The vending machine has a 2048 Diffuse map and a 1024 Normal map. The Specular and Emmissive are derived from the diffuse map using a selection of tools in the Unreal 3 materials editor. A small 256 mask is also used to help with this process, the single image contains the two masks, each under a different colour channel. A screenshot of the material set up is below in the 'breakdown' section.
The dumpster has a 2048 diffuse that has the specular in the Alpha channel. It also has a 2048 normal map that is a combination of a bake of a high polygon dumpster model, and also some high frequency effects made from the Diffuse using the Nvidia plugin.
The billboard is intended to be viewed from further away, so has a diffuse and specular map only. The 'smoke lady' was from a photograph by Mikkell
