This environment was created for the Polycount ‘BRAWL’ competition by myself and friend Jon Morris. We chose to remake Sean’s stage from Street Fighter 3 but we wanted to bring some futuristic elements and change it to a night shot to create more of a dramatic result. This scene was completed in 4 weeks in our spare time, I created the two buildings on the left, the car, the bar on the right and a number of props. As soon as the competition begun we knew we wanted to implement some of the new DX11 features inside UDK which includes the reflections and Bokeh DOF.
Because of the short amount of time we had to create this we focused on making things in a modular fashion, so that individual elements could be made and then copied around to fill the scene quickly. This also helped us with the scene performance, meaning we could use a number of new Directx 11 features.
This is the car i made for the scene, it is based on a Peugeot concept car from a few years ago, with a few changes. I created the Hi poly in 3ds Max and then added damage etc after this in ZBrush. This was then all baked onto a low poly version in XNormal.
I have highlighted the main areas I was responsible here in orange:
